When people from outside the island speak about Sint Eustatius, assumed problems are likely to  predominate the discussion. But living here I saw the island for much more than this.

On just a few square kilometers there is a unique culture, packed in overwhelming nature with beautiful and outspoken people. Yes, the island does have a lot of challenges, but I mostly saw a lot of opportunities.

As a doctor I´m honored to have the best place in society to meet new people. I try to look nonjudgmental so that people can be their selves, in all their ups and downs.

I tried to translate my feeling working as a doctor on Sint Eustatius to authentic images. With this series I tried to catch the character of her people and the beauty of her nature in an honorable way.
